It’s important for artists to use their ability at times to bring attention to important issues and educate. Personally I am not a huge political fan, most politicians just annoy me no matter what side of the political fence they are on. So I rarely do political motivated art.

I’d rather spend my time supporting causes that everyone no matter what political bent can agree on. The Urban Forest Project is one of them. In a nut shell it’s about having more green spaces and trees within urban environments. Designers create message driven banner designs that relay this core message and they are displayed through out the city.


This tutorial will walk you through an illustrative banner for the Portland Oregon AIGA chapters ‘Urban Forest Project.’
