I’ve always enjoyed hand lettering. Creating unique custom letter-forms is actually very relaxing for me. I can’t say that about a lot of my illustration work which can often be some what stressful but when it comes to sketching out and creating custom typography It’s fun working through the visual problems of relating one letter-form with the next all the while keeping the bigger picture in focus.
This tutorial will walk you through an illustrative lettering project where I develop a new logo type for myself which I can use in my illustration marketing and promotions.
(Tutorial Includes Notes in both ‘English’ and ‘Español’.)

Dear Mr. Glitschka,
I am a HUGE fan of your work and a fellow ill/designer.
I love going over the processes expained in your tutorials.
below (I hope the link works) is an example of a logo I created for myself; The backgroung pattern was created by rotating the same logo for that playing card back look.
Any critique or advice on how I could improve this logo would be greatly appreciated.
I have been tweaking and re-tweaking this design for about six years. Constant evolution.
Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Chris “XRIS” Soprano

Chris,
Thanks for your comments but I couldn’t see any images in your post? I have that feature turned off. Feel free to email me directly though and share your work.
